That means that, if you hypothetically wanted to kill a lich with five 6th-level characters, you need 1 Druid, 1 Bard/Cleric/Ranger, and 3 ranged attackers with magical weapons or spells. Entangle is still useful for forcing the Lich to burn saves and further slowing it down if cast on top of Plant Growth, so bringing a Druid is probably still best.) At 6th level, that means a Druid, Bard, or another full caster subclass with access to it. Plant Growth is more ideal, because since it's non-concentration and requires 4 feet of movement for every foot moved, so even Dashing, the Lich wouldn't get out of Silence in a round. You need Spike Growth or Plant Growth for sufficient difficult terrain to prevent it from leaving Silence without Dashing.

(EDIT: I misremembered the size of Entangle's effect. Even when the Lich does break through the Entangle temporarily via Legendary Resistances, the difficult terrain will prevent it from immediately getting out of the Silence without Dashing, allowing it to be recast centered on the Lich again.

It targets a Lich's weakest save and can't be murdered in order to be escaped. Grappling is a bad way to keep a Lich in Silence due to Paralyzing Touch, Frightening Gaze, and Disrupt Life. Liches are nasty customers in their own right between the non-magical weapons immunity, legendary resistance, legendary actions, and spellcasting (plus a pretty nasty touch attack to shut down anyone who thinks they can just go up and hug the horrible undead monster), but their actual HP is low enough that you might be able to kill it before it power word kills your counterspeller and dominates the fighter to murder the rest of the party for it if you catch it unaware and then drop some fat crits on it while it's surprised. The scariest thing about fighting a lich, however, is that unless you find their phylactery, the lich is gonna get up in a few days and now you're dealing with a torqued off lich who knows your tricks and has access to the entire wizard spell list, a war chest of magic items, and whatever minions it's gathered over the centuries of unlife it's unlived to hit back at you with. Maybe, but the question shouldn't be 'can we beat a lich?', it should be 'can we find the lich's phylactery before it comes back to kill us?'
